Effective immediately the USS Arizona Memorial will
implement a No Bag Policy as required by the U.S. Navy. This policy is in
response to the threat level being raised to high and the park’s location on
Pearl Harbor. Strict security measures prohibit purses, handbags, fanny
packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage and/or other items that
offer concealment. A storage container is available for visitors coming to
the USS Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Park and Battleship Missouri
Memorial. The adjacent USS Bowfin Memorial Park will operate the storage
container. Items accepted at the baggage storage will be carry-on size or
smaller (30”H x 30”W x 18”D). The fee is $2.00 per item. Large luggage will
not be accepted. The public is advised to check the park’s automated
information line at (808) 422-0561 or visit www.nps.gov/usar for updates.
The USS Arizona Memorial managed by the National Park
Service, continues toward the mission of protecting special places for
American’s to experience their heritage. The National Park Service in
conjunction with the U.S. Navy is implementing this policy to ensure; (1)
the safety of visitors, (2) the safety of the park’s cultural, natural and
historic resources, and (3) the security of the adjoining Navy base. The
park is working to be both sensitive to visitor needs, while remaining alert
to security concerns. The USS Arizona Memorial security level is subject to
change due to its status as an icon park and because of its location in
Pearl Harbor.
The National Park Service reserves the right to alter,
change or supercede any policy related to the USS Arizona Memorial and/or
park issues related to U.S. Military security. The USS Arizona Memorial, USS
Bowfin Memorial and the USS Missouri Memorial shall not be responsible for
damage or loss due to fire, theft or any other cause, to items or the
contents therein when checked for storage while visiting this facility. Do
not check valuable items such as cash, jewelry, cameras etc. as the above
mentioned organizations will not accept liability for any such item. No
employees or attendants have the authority to vary, modify, alter or enlarge
any of the foregoing terms or conditions. Absolutely no overnight storage
allowed.
